A Little Background
Visionaries observe the present with their eyes, but in their minds they see the future clearly and accessible. This is how engineer Pierre Latécoère saw it. The one who that day, March 9, 1919, while landing in the immense field “El rompedizo” Manor was; he only could visualize the airdrome his air company needed for his newly created airline between Toulouse and Casablanca. Of course with a stopover in Spain.
Today, 100 years after that historic landing, Malaga airport has evolved significantly: it is far from being the old airdrome where all the passenger services were displayed at the air base premises. Nowadays, after having gone through different names, it is officially called Malaga-Costa del Sol airport since 2011, by an official order.
The newest terminal is called Terminal T3, which was inaugurated in March 2010. From there depart all flights to the EU. Its high and transparent construction and architecture never ceases to impress. This building combines high technology and the most modern services with a wide variety of shops of all kinds with the best commercial brands and wide corridors and nice lounges, in order to make the wait as pleasant as possible.
That same year the new airport train station and a second landing strip were opened.
